Zasso tractor attachment zaps weeds without using herbicides

Fast and highly scalable weeding technologies are quickly emerging on the market. Zasso is at the forefront of herbicide-free weeding technology.

The founder and co-CEO, Sergio Coutinho, explains, “ Our mission is to deploy a clean, environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and cheap alternative to agrotoxics such as herbicides.”

To fulfil its mission, the Swiss-based company created an innovative weeding tractor that utilizes electric power to eradicate weeds.

Sounds fascinating?

Here’s How it Works

The weeder is attached to a tractor and lowered on the target weeds. Based on a basic electrophysical principle, it converts the mechanical or alternative power from the tractor into electrical power and modulates it for uniform weeding results.

When the applicator comes into physical contact with a weed, it sends lightweight but high-voltage currents to the plant’s shoots and roots in the soil in a zap, resulting in immediate death.

The systemic weeder aims to wilt the plants from the roots, preventing them from multiplying or regenerating. Since it only sends the current flow at the time of application, the technology does not harm the soil microbiology and does not negatively impact the crop yield.

Zasso’s Electroherb technology provides a sustainable and non-chemical alternative method of weed control for farmers looking to reduce or eliminate the use of herbicides.

Unlike herbicides, electric weeding does not allow for weed resistance, giving farmers a cost-effective and sustainable physical method to keep all weeds at bay.

Unlike the robot dog weeder, the tractor weeder is usable on farms that have plants in them.

Is the Zasso weeder really practical?

Since its launch in 2017, the Electroherb has become a popular weeding machine in many specialty commercial farms globally. The company has also launched the XPower XPS family of electric weeders that meet the specific needs of small crop farms, orchards, and vineyards.

Whether you’re using the Zasso tractor for your organic farm or vineyard, one thing is certain; it is a handy machine useful for zapping weeds.
